FIELD MANAGER
Employment Type: Seasonal (March–October) W2 employment
Hours: March 16 hours/week, April - October 32+ hours/week
Schedule: Sundays 9am-1:30pm, Monday - Wednesday 8am-4:30pm, Thursdays 8am-12:30pm. Half hour unpaid lunch each day.

Agate Acres is a diversified farm located on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We specialize in growing florals for weddings, wholesale, and direct to consumer sales, vegetables for wholesale and farm stand, and a pumpkin patch. Agate Acres is a wedding, private, and community event venue. Agate Acres Farm & Events aims to encourage connection to food, community, and place by stewarding the land, providing space to gather, and cultivating celebration. We are dedicated to sustainable, resilient farming practices and community engagement and cultivation.
Position Overview:
Agate Acres seeks a dedicated Field Manager to oversee crop production and land stewardship. The Field Manager will lead the farm’s small team in daily operations, ensuring efficient and sustainable management of our flower and vegetable crops.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Agate Acres Leadership (Kyle and Emily) to plan, coordinate, and implement field operations for both floral and vegetable production.
Along with Leadership, supervise and train seasonal staff and volunteers.
Manage planting, cultivation, irrigation, pest control, and harvest schedules.
Maintain equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
Harvest flowers and vegetables efficiently and effectively.
Ensure proper post-harvest handling and product quality for flower CSA and event florals.
Pack vegetable boxes.
Help build CSA flower bouquets.
Stock the farm stand.
Oversee soil health and organic practices, including composting, soil amendments, green manure, and crop rotation.
Assist in hosting farm events and community engagement activities as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of farm management experience, preferably in diversified crops.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Desire to respect & care for the health of soil, plants, animals and humans.
Desire to participate in and build a local, vibrant community.
Ability to work both independently and in diverse groups of people.
Comfort giving or relaying instructions to others (students, volunteers, teammates) when needed.
Knowledge of sustainable and organic farming practices.
Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment safely.
Deep understanding of efficiency and systems building and maintenance.
Physical stamina (ability to lift 50lbs) and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage, based on experience. ($17-$19/hour).
Seasonal produce and florals included.
Minnesota Sick & Safe time accrual: 1 hour of paid time off per 30 hours worked.
PTO Accrual: .03 hour per hour worked.
Farm Team Lunch provided each Thursday.

Harvest flowers and vegetables efficiently and effectively.
Ensure proper post-harvest handling and product quality for flower CSA and event florals.
Pack vegetable boxes.
Help build CSA flower bouquets.

EVENT STAFF

Potential Hours of Work: Fridays 9am - 3pm, Saturdays 9am - 9pm. Half hour unpaid lunch.

Agate Acres seeks a dedicated Events Staff to help with set up, take down, clean up, directing parking traffic, customer service, and setting up florals.
Key Responsibilities:
Moving, setting up, and taking down tables, chairs, benches, arbors, and other event infrastructure.
Emptying trash and recycling
Directing guest cars to correct parking spots, vendor vehicles to vendor parking, etc.
Assisting customers and guests with answering questions, directing them to correct places, answering questions about Agate Acres
Ensuring customers and guests stay in designated spaces.
Assist in placing Agate Acres designed florals in appropriate places in venue.
Qualifications:
Strong communication skills and ability to work on a team.

Ability to work both independently and in diverse groups of people.
